- The 12th International Conference of the Ethiopian Economy was conducted from July 16-19, 2014 at the Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA), in collaboration with the Ethiopia Strategy Support Program/International Food Policy Research Institute (ESSP/IFPRI)
- Conference on “Towards what works in rural development in Ethiopia: Evidence on the impact of investments and policies” was conducted by ESSP II on December 13, 2013 at the Hilton Hotel. The conference was attended by more than 90 peopel from different sectors.
- The 11th International Conference on the Ethiopian Economy was held from July 18–20, 2013 at the Ethiopian Economic Association, in collaboration with IFPRI/ESSP II. The event was attended by more than 500 participants and 70 papers were presented.
- Prof. David Stifel gave training on econometrics at the Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA), June 17–28, 2013.
- Emily Schmidt gave a half-day workshop on Sustainable Land Management Interventions and Impact on May 10th, in collaboration with IWMI and EDRI, at the Hilton, Addis Ababa.
- Tadesse Kuma, Seneshaw Tamru, Getachew Ahmed, and Kassahun Aberra gave a week long training on Food Price Management in Ethiopia. March 25–29, 2013. Ghion Hotel, Addis Ababa.
- A training on Impact Evaluation was given by Guush Berhane and Neha Kumar to 33 participants from Addis Ababa University and different regional universities. April 23–24, 2013, ILRI Campus.
- A training Introduction to Mendeley was given by Indra Lamoot to ESSP researchers on February 13th, 2013 at ESARO meeting room. An additional training took place at EDRI on March 27th for EDRI researchers and guests from the ILRI campus.
- EDRI and ESSP organized a workshop on China and Africa Economic Cooperation, given by a study tour group from China on January 21, 2013 in Ghion Hotel, Addis Ababa. There were 36 participants.
- Stefano Caria (Oxford University and collaborator of ESSP) gave a week training on Game Theory and Industrial Organization for 27 participants, coming from The participants will come from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopian Economics Association, EDRI, and the Chamber of Commerce. December 3–7, 2012. EDRI Meeting Room, Addis Ababa.
- In collaboration with Central Statistical Agency (CSA) staff, a GIS training was given to 20 students of Addis Ababa University by Mekamu Kedir. December 4–6, 2012. ILRI Campus, Addis Ababa.
- A half-day seminar on Can Social Protection Work in Africa? The impact of Ethiopia’s Productive Safety Net Programme was given on November 16th, 2012 by Dr. John Hoddinott at the Hilton in Addis Ababa.
- ESSP II / IFPRI and EDRI organized the Conference 'Improved Evidence towards Better Food and Agricultural Policies in Ethiopia' on November 2, 2012, in the Hilton hotel, Addis Ababa. Dr. Paul Dorosh launched the book 'Food and Agriculture in Ethiopia: Progress and Policy Challenges', a publication of IFPRI and University of Pennsylvania Press. ESSP II and EDRI researchers presented ongoing research. More than 180 people particpated in the conference.
- Prof. Sherman Robinson, Seneshaw Tamru, and Ermias Engida gave a two weeks training on GAMS/CGE for 41 participants, September 17–26, at Addis Ababa University (AAU).
- Regional training in the Introduction to GIS was given in Jimma August 27–September 1 and in Nazareth September 3–7, 2012.
- The 10th International Conference on the Ethiopian Economy was held July 19-21, 2012 at the Ethiopian Economic Association.
- Prof. David Stifel and Derek Headey gave a half day training on Writing, Presenting, and Publishing for Development Economics for 24 trainees on June 20, 2012, at the EDRI Conference Hall.
- An intensive course on Micro Econometrics was given by Prof. David Stifel in the EDRI Conference Hall, June 4-15, 2012, for 35 regional university students and lecturers.
- The Ethiopia Strategy Support Program II conducted a three-days training on Designing a Geodatabase using Arc Diagrammer and introduction to Python. The training was held at the International Livestock Research Institute from May 30 till June 01, 2012 for 19 participants from different government institutions.
- EDRI, ASARECA, and ESSP II organized a half-day workshop on Food Price Dynamics and its Policy Implications in Ethiopia on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the Ghion Hotel, Addis Ababa. 72 persons attended the workshop.
- The GIS Team of ESSP II - EDRI has given the training An Introduction to GIS in Barhir Dar University March 23–26, 2012 for 52 trainees.
- An introduction to Geographic Information System (GIS) training was given in Tigray and Afar region (January 31-February 3, 2012) for 37 participants.
- An Introduction to GIS course was teached in Dire Dawa on December 13-16, 2011, to 30 participants.
- Micro Econometrics training was given to 30 trainees for ten days, November 28-December 9, 2011 by Prof. David Stifel.
- A five-days training (November 7-11) on Game Theory and Industrial Organization was given for 33 university students.
- A one day workshop on Taking Stock of the Economics of the Livestock Sector in Ethiopia was conducted by IFPRI-ESSP II in collaboration with the Ethiopian Development Research Institute (EDRI) and the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI). The workshop took place in Jupiter Hotel, Addis Ababa on November 4th, 2011.
- An introduction to Geographic Information System (GIS) training was conducted at Hawassa University by IFPRI-ESSP II in collaboration with the Central Statistical Agency (CSA), November 1-4, 2011. The training was given to students of Hawassa University, staff of SNNPR Bureau of Finance and Economic Development, and CSA staff.
- A one day workshop on Knowledge sharing and strategic planning for Regional CSA officials was conducted on October 31, 2011, in Addis Ababa, ILRI Campus. The participants were composed of heads and GIS experts from Finance and Economic Development Bureaus of all the 11 regions in Ethiopia.
- The Ethiopian Development Research Institute (EDRI), Ethiopia Strategy Support Program II (ESSP II / IFPRI), and School of Economics of Addis Ababa University organized a two-week course in CGE Modeling. The course had two components. In the first week, the course focused on the basic tools and static version of the model. Week two was devoted to a dynamic version of the CGE Model. The training was conducted by Prof. Sherman Robinson (IFPRI), Dario Debowicz (IFPRI), Seneshaw Tamiru (ESSP II) and Ermias Engida (ESSP II) at the Addis Ababa Univesity from October 17-28, 2011.
- A GIS training was conducted on September 20-22, 2011 for representatives of CSA, NMA, and EDRI.
- A workshop was held at Jupiter International Hotel on September 6th, 2011 to present and discuss the results of the study by EDRI and ESSP II on Consumption, investment, and savings of successful farmers.
- The 9th International Annual conference of the Ethiopian Economic Association (EEA) was conducted July 21-23, 2011 in collaboration with IFPRI-ESSP II.
- Planning meeting and economy-wide analysis of Ethiopia's next five year plan in connection with IFPRI's Ethiopia Strategy Support Program was held with the CGE team at EDRI-ESSP and Prof. Sherman Robinson in Washington DC, February 2011.
- The Annual Internal Program Review (IPR) was conducted in Washington DC for senior staff of IFPRI starting at the end of February till the beginning of March 2011.
