On June 5, 2025, the inagural seminar of the Future Food Systems Program, funded by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was held at the ILRI Campus in the Konso Meeting Room. The "Internal Seminar on Agri-food Systems Transformation in Ethiopia," is the event that brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), the Agricultural Transformation Institute (ATI), the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Planning and Development, and other strategic partners. This seminar marks the first in a series of collaborative knowledge-sharing engagements aimed at advancing sustainable food systems in Ethiopia.
The session focused on presenting ongoing IFPRI-led research tailored to support the intersection of food systems transformation and climate action in the country. Alemayehu Seyoum Taffesse, DPhil of IFPRI introduced the program’s core research questions, methodologies, and emerging insights to the participants, with the aim of fostering dialogue and gathering valuable feedback from national partners. The seminar provided a critical platform for aligning research efforts with national priorities and the key element of the researches was discussed wthich is on the 'Agrifood systems diagnostic', 'Policy and Investment Prioritization', 'Economywide Risk Profiles' and 'Country-specific analytics'. The seminar will continue on the way forward.
