As part of its initiative to help build capacity of local institutes so that the increasingly complex questions in Ethiopia can be tackled in a meaningful way, the Ethiopia Strategy Support Program (ESSP) of IFPRI organized a training on; Market Policy and Value Chain Analysis (with a focus on Agriculture and Livestock) for researchers of the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research (EIAR) from October 8 - 9, 2019.
The two days training provided an accessible introduction to market policies, with a focus on agriculture and livestock while aiming at improving understanding of agricultural and livestock market development, price stabilization theories and applications, and the functioning of agricultural and livestock value chains. For each theme, the participants were given an overview of the theory/conceptual frameworks as well as some overview of relevant studies in that area in Ethiopia.
