On February 10, 2015, a workshop, organized as part of the IFPRI-led Food Security Portal (PSP) project, took place in Addis Ababa. In total 36 people attended from various organizations, including donors, researchers, international NGOs, government institutions and policy makers.
This European Commission-funded FSP project is now in its second phase, and continues to attract people who are involved with food security. The primary goal of the FSP project is to improve food and nutrition security for the poor in developing countries and increase the resilience of food systems in order to cope with future crises.
This workshop focused on enhancing the flow of information around food and nutrition security issues at country level, drawing on expertise to strengthen capacity for improved timely food security information, policy research and analysis. In September and October of 2014, a project assessment was conducted with input from key stakeholder institutions in Ethiopia’s food and nutrition security sectors, reviewing their coordination structures and the information flows between them. Part of this workshop was dedicated to the findings of this project assessment in order to help further refine and support the PSP project’s operations, and specifically to identify gaps, research needs and areas for future collaboration.
In addition to the assessment feedback, presentations were delivered on studies of the Price Hub Initiative, inclusive agricultural transformation and on the Food Security Portal.
This was a jointly organized event between the Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA) and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI).
