Past Events

  • The GIS Team of ESSP II - EDRI has given the training An Introduction to GIS in Barhir Dar University March 23–26, 2012 for 52 trainees.
  • An introduction to Geographic Information System (GIS) training was given in Tigray and Afar region (January 31-February 3, 2012) for 37 participants.
  • An Introduction to GIS course was teached in Dire Dawa on December 13-16, 2011, to 30 participants.
  • Micro Econometrics training was given to 30 trainees for ten days, November 28-December 9, 2011 by Prof. David Stifel.
  • A five-days training (November 7-11) on Game Theory and Industrial Organization was given for 33 university students.
  • A one day workshop on Taking Stock of the Economics of the Livestock Sector in Ethiopia was conducted by IFPRI-ESSP II in collaboration with the Ethiopian Development Research Institute (EDRI) and the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI). The workshop took place in Jupiter Hotel, Addis Ababa on November 4th, 2011.
  • An introduction to Geographic Information System (GIS) training was conducted at Hawassa University by IFPRI-ESSP II in collaboration with the Central Statistical Agency (CSA), November 1-4, 2011. The training was given to students of Hawassa University, staff of SNNPR Bureau of Finance and Economic Development, and CSA staff.
  • A one day workshop on Knowledge sharing and strategic planning for Regional CSA officials was conducted on October 31, 2011, in Addis Ababa, ILRI Campus. The participants were composed of heads and GIS experts from Finance and Economic Development Bureaus of all the 11 regions in Ethiopia.
  • The Ethiopian Development Research Institute (EDRI), Ethiopia Strategy Support Program II (ESSP II / IFPRI), and School of Economics of Addis Ababa University organized a two-week course in CGE Modeling. The course had two components. In the first week, the course focused on the basic tools and static version of the model. Week two was devoted to a dynamic version of the CGE Model. The training was conducted by Prof. Sherman Robinson (IFPRI), Dario Debowicz (IFPRI), Seneshaw Tamiru (ESSP II) and Ermias Engida (ESSP II) at the Addis Ababa Univesity from October 17-28, 2011.
  • A GIS training was conducted on September 20-22, 2011 for representatives of CSA, NMA, and EDRI.
  • A workshop was held at Jupiter International Hotel on September 6th, 2011 to present and discuss the results of the study by EDRI and ESSP II on Consumption, investment, and savings of successful farmers.
  • The 9th International Annual conference of the Ethiopian Economic Association (EEA) was conducted July 21-23, 2011 in collaboration with IFPRI-ESSP II.
  • Planning meeting and economy-wide analysis of Ethiopia's next five year plan in connection with IFPRI's Ethiopia Strategy Support Program was held with the  CGE team at EDRI-ESSP and Prof. Sherman Robinson in Washington DC, February 2011.  
  • The Annual Internal Program Review (IPR) was conducted in Washington DC for senior staff of IFPRI starting at the end of February till the beginning of March 2011.
